FINLAND INTENDS TO DEPORT A FAMILY WITH SEVEN UNDER-AGE CHILDREN TO IRAQ

FINLAND INTENDS TO DEPORT A FAMILY OF NINE, including seven under-age children. 

The police picked up the family from their accommodation on Monday and told, via an interpreter over the phone, that the family will be deported to Iraq. 
The family was transferred in the evening from Raisio to Metsälä detention center in Helsinki. 
The family opposes deportation and their lawyer has appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court for a prohibition of enforcement concerning their deportation decision, tells a representative authorised by the family. 
The family of 9 is now being transferred to Joutseno detention centre.
The family had to flee from their home more than 15 years ago. 
They first relocated within Iraq but fled to Syria more than a decade ago; after the start of the war, they then fled to Turkey and from there to Finland. Their children are aged 1.5 to 14, and only two of the children have ever lived in Iraq. 
Three of the children attend school in Finland and speak Finnish.
We are astonished and disappointed since as recently as last week we heard the Prime Minister of Finland state to press that forced deportations of children to unsafe countries were not in line with his sense of justice. 

We ask Prime Minister Sipilä to stop asylum seekers’ deportations that, in our opinion, violate children’s rights, human rights and human dignity. 

Asylum seekers are already traumatised because of persecution, war, their long journey to seek asylum and the distressing wait for an asylum decision. Please, do not increase our suffering. We hope our asylum applications are processed justly and thoroughly. 

We seek nothing but safety and peace.

[TIEDOTE 14.11.2017] POLIISI PAKKOPALAUTTI RASKAANA OLEVAN - LÄÄKÄRI EI SUOSITTANUT

Ulkomaalaispoliisi pakkopalautti tänä aamuna 32+ viikolla raskaana olevan naisen, hänen vammaisen lapsensa ja aviomiehensä Nigeriaan. Poliisi on aiemmin vakuuttanut, että pakkopalautettaville tehdään lääkärintarkastus aina kun se on aiheellista. Tänä aamuna poliisi ei kuitenkaan huomioinut avustajien illalla lähettämää tuoretta lääkärintodistusta, jossa lääkäri ei suositellut pakkopalautettavalle naiselle lentomatkaa. Poliisi ei tiettävästi esittänut sitä myöskään le nnosta vastaavalle Finnairin henkilökunnalle. Perhe ei ole saanut matkalle tarvittavia rokotuksia.  Karkotus käynnistettiin kello viisi aamulla eikä poliisi vastannut avustajien lukuisiin yhteydenottopyyntöihin illan ja aamun aikana. Tietojemme mukaan poliisi ei ollut informoinut yhdenvertaisuusvaltuutettua raskaana olevan naisen ja vammaisen lapsen käännytyksestä ennakkoon. Yhdenvertaisuusvaltuutettu monitoroi pakkopalautuslentoja ja heidän kuuluu saada tieto karkotuksista etukäteen.  Olemme kysyneet tieto...

DEMANDS OF THE PROTESTING ASYLUM SEEKERS

ISSUE 1) MIGRI DECISIONS ARE FAULTY ISSUE: Migri has been unprofessional with the decisions, and this leads to life-dangering deportations. Migri’s faulty procedure cannot be corrected in the courts. The court system does not secure that legal rights of asylum seekers will be met. DEMANDS AND SOLUTIONS: 1) Migri needs to admit that inexperienced staff and poor country reports have led to faulty decisions, 2) These decisions need to reviewed again in order to prevent refoulement,  3) There needs to be an independent outside review of the quality of the asylum process in Migri to prevent further mistakes and misconduct, 4) Migri needs to update the sources of the country reports and make them, and the sources behind them, public  compare them internationally DETAILS OF THE ISSUE: In 2015, Migri hired a lot of people who don’t have experience in asylum matters.
