Right to Live - Asylum seekers demonstration in Helsinki

In the current situation, asylum seekers who have received an enforceable decision on deportation will be cut from reception services. However, many of them cannot be deported and will not return. This means that there is a growing number of people without a legal status in Helsinki. Both the asylum seekers and the undocumented are in a vulnerable position and Helsinki should ensure that this is a safe hometown for them also. We are worried about the growing number of people in Helsinki and elsewhere, living without access to basic safety, housing and other most basic needs. The obligation to provide indispensable subsistence and care to all people in Finland, irrespective of how long they have been in Finland, irrespective of their nationality, or other similar factors, is stated in the Section 19 of the Finnish Constitution. Allekirjoittaneet lausunnon antajat pyytävät, että Suomen Maahanmuuttovirasto tosiasiallisesti ottaa turvapaikkapäätöksiä antaessaan huomioon Irakin todellisen turvallisuustilanteen, jota koskevia tietoja tässä lausunnossa annetaan. Yhdistyneiden kansakuntien mukaan summittaiset teloitukset, autopommit, salamurhat, tykistötulitus sekä ilmaiskut tappoivat tai vahingoittivat vuoden 2015 aikana yli 20.000 siviiliä. ISISin on raportoitu tehneen sekä sotarikoksia että rikoksia ihmisyyttä vastaan. Irakin valtion heikkouden takia merkittäviksi yhteiskunnallisiksi toimijoiksi ovat nousseet lukuisat Irakin valtiota tukevat militiat, jotka suorittavat salamurhia, tuhoavat omaisuutta ja kaappaavat siviilejä.
